?Questionable Projects?

North America

Death Valley National Park, remote sections
Drive remote roads to:   Race Track Playa, Warm Springs Canyon, Saratoga Springs
Climb highest peaks in each range:
Brown Peak 4947 ft. (Greenwater Range),
Funeral Peak 6384 ft. (Black Mtns),
Grapevine Peak 8737 ft. (Grapevine Mtns)
Tin Mountain 8953 ft. (Cottonwood Mtns)
Dry Mountain 8674 ft. (Last Chance Range)
Eureka Peak 6604 ft. (Saline Range)
Considerations:
Needed robust 4 WD vehicle and skills.  Possible for early spring.
Subject to varied weather and road conditions
Car breakdown potentially a serious hazard.

Africa

Festival in the Desert, Mali
Dogon Country trek, Festival in the Desert, Djenne, Timbuktu
Considerations:
Safety in region a serious problem, as per US State Department advisory.

Mount Kenya,  Mount Kilamanjaro, East Africa
Summit climb of second highest peak in Africa, possibly highest peak also,
wildlife safari
Considerations:
High airfare.

South America

Cordillera Blanca, Peru
Trek in Cordillera Blanca, followed by ascent of 5500 – 6000 meter peak(s)
For example Muraraju - located in the South end of the Cordillera a fairly intense face
climb and then a nice AD route up the East face, guided by Ted Alexander
Considerations:
High altitude, three weeks needed, good support infrastructure.

AAconcagua, Argentina
The highest mountain in the world outside Asia.
Considerations:
High altitude, three weeks plus needed, long, cold.

<...oh crap, I fell off the edge>

Cordillera Apolobamba, Condoriri, Sajama, Bolivia
Climbing in little visited C. Apolobamba (first ascents?), spectacular Condoriri, plus highest peak in Bolivia
Considerations:
High altitude, three plus weeks needed, remote.

Ojos del Salado, Chile
The second highest mountain in the world outside Asia.
Considerations:
High altitude, two weeks plus, very cold.

Patagonia Icefield Traverse, Argentina
Start in El Chalten, travel to at Marconi Pass, enter ice field, circle Cerro Fitzroy and  Cerro Torre, on, return via Windy Pass.
Considerations:
Not a high altitude trip, remote, rarely visited wilderness.
High cost to fly to El Chalten. Argentine Airlines sucks.  Severe weather likely on ice cap.

there be dragons...

Roraima, Venezuela, Guyana
Six day hike to summit of flat topped tepui (elevation 9219 ft).  High point of Guyana
Considerations:
Not a high altitude trip, unique environment.  Bugs low elevations, damp higher up.
Crime in country very serious problem, as per US State Department advisory.

is it getting hot in here?
